Fort Horsted
Your local community champion
Nicholas Chan
I’m standing for public office because I’m genuinely disgusted by how deeply corruption can seep into everyday life. As many of you know, I was born in Hong Kong, but I never truly had the chance to live in my hometown after the authoritarian takeover in 1997. I grew up knowing what it feels like when ordinary people speak, but no one in power listens.
Closer to home, in Fort Horsted, I’m committed to protecting green spaces, ensuring clean water, and improving how local decisions are made. With my passion in serving my community and my skills in the legal profession, we'll deliver an efficient and brighter Chatham.

I have lived most of my life in Horsted and on my father's side, my connections go back in Medway for at least 4 generations. In fact people say to me all the time that I must be related to half of Gillingham.
Even though I’m past the normal retirement age, I still work two days a week at Medway Hospital so that I can still help those who need my expertise.
I have been battling to protect the green spaces in the Horsted since the age of 19, when I got an area of woodland covered by a tree preservation order.
My greatest achievement so far has been to gain village green status for the northern half of the Horsted Valley. I have also successfully stopped some inappropriate housing developments taking place.
If elected I will fight hard to protect Medway 's green spaces, rebuild the local health services (particularly the primary care sector), and ensure the right kind of houses are built in the right place.
